Special Issue Connaissance des Arts. Chaalis royal abbey

996
The Chaalis estate, consisting of a former Gothic Cistercian church, chapel and château, became the property of Nélie Jacquemart in 1902. Nélie quickly undertook a series of renovations, installing the latest technical innovations of the day. On her death, all her properties, including her Paris mansion (now the Musée Jacquemart-André), were bequeathed to the Institut de France. This special issue looks back at the history of this estate, which has been home to many illustrious personalities.
